Completely New To The Gym
You've never trained before, or never trained with any real structure, and you'd like to learn how to do it properly from the start.

Beginner-Friendly Coaching
Beginner personal training in London for people who are new to the gym, returning after a long break or simply looking for expert guidance to get started properly.
No intimidation. No judgement. No assumptions.
Just calm, structured 1-to-1 coaching designed to help you learn how to train, build confidence and feel completely at home in the gym.

It's completely normal
Walking into a gym for the first time — or the first time in years — can feel genuinely intimidating.
Unfamiliar equipment. Other people who look like they know exactly what they're doing. A quiet worry about getting things wrong, looking out of place or simply not knowing where to start.
None of this means fitness isn't for you. It means you haven't had the right guidance yet.
Most people who feel this way aren't lacking motivation. They're missing structure, confidence and someone to show them how to train properly.
Beginner personal training is designed to remove that barrier — so the gym stops feeling like an obstacle and starts feeling like a place you belong.
Methodology
Every beginner starts in a different place — and that's exactly where we'll begin.
Rather than rushing you through a generic programme, we'll build confidence gradually using a structured, evidence-based approach designed specifically for people who are new to training.
Everything centres around four core principles.
We start with the fundamentals — how to move well, how to use the equipment safely and how to understand what each exercise is doing. Building a strong foundation early on means everything that follows feels easier, safer and more rewarding.
Confidence isn't built by being pushed to your limits. It's built by repetition, clarity and small wins. Sessions are paced so you finish feeling capable, not overwhelmed — and so you genuinely look forward to coming back.
Every session connects to the next. We'll progress steadily over time, adjusting weights, exercises and intensity in line with how you're feeling and what you're ready for. No guesswork. No random workouts.
Coaching is calm, patient and judgement-free. You'll always know what you're doing, why you're doing it and where it fits into the bigger picture — with someone in your corner throughout the journey.
What you'll learn
Beginner personal training isn't just about completing workouts. It's about developing the understanding, technique and confidence to train independently for the rest of your life.
By the time you've worked with me for a few weeks, you'll know how to train — not just follow instructions.
Learn how to perform the key foundational movements safely and effectively — from squats and hinges to pushing, pulling and core control. Good technique is the difference between progress and frustration.
Get comfortable with equipment, machines, free weights and the general flow of a gym. You'll quickly understand where things are, what they're for and how to use them confidently on your own.
Understand why workouts are built the way they are — warm-ups, exercise order, sets, reps and recovery. So when you train alone, you know exactly what you're doing and why.
Learn how to progress sensibly — when to add weight, when to hold steady, and how to keep improving without burning out. Sustainable progress beats short-term effort, every time.
Who it's for
Beginner personal training is for anyone who wants to learn how to train properly — without judgement, without pressure and without feeling out of place.
If any of the following feels familiar, you're in exactly the right place.
You've never trained before, or never trained with any real structure, and you'd like to learn how to do it properly from the start.
Life took over. Work, family, injury, time — there are countless reasons people fall out of training. We'll ease you back in at a sensible pace, without trying to pick up where you left off.
You'd like to train, but the gym environment feels intimidating. Coaching gives you structure, guidance and reassurance so you always know exactly what to do.
Maybe you've been training on your own for a while but feel unsure whether you're doing things right. Together we'll refine your technique and give your training real direction.
Start here
Every beginner journey starts with a relaxed, no-obligation conversation.
It's a chance for us to get to know each other, discuss what you'd like to achieve and decide whether we're the right fit.
There's no pressure to commit. Just an honest conversation about where you are now and where you'd like to be.
During the consultation we'll discuss:
Your goals
Any previous training experience
Lifestyle and routine
Injuries or health considerations
What's held you back so far
How you'd like to feel in the gym
The coaching options best suited to you
Next steps if you decide to continue
You'll leave with a clearer understanding of how coaching works and exactly what a beginner programme would look like for you.
Limited availability each month.
Your first session
Your first session is calm, structured and completely beginner-friendly. There's no expectation that you'll know what you're doing — that's the whole point of having a coach.
We'll start with a relaxed introduction, walk through some basic movements together and use the session to understand where you're starting from. No pressure. No surprises. Nothing you can't handle.
You'll leave feeling clearer about what's involved, more confident in the environment and with a real sense that this is something you can absolutely do.

Progress
As a beginner, your most meaningful progress often shows up in places that aren't immediately obvious — and they're worth celebrating.
Together we'll track a range of indicators so you can see clearly how far you've come, from your very first session onwards.
Walking into the gym feeling calm rather than nervous is one of the clearest signs that coaching is working. It's a foundation everything else is built on.
Improvements in how you move are tracked from session to session. Better technique means safer, more effective and more enjoyable training.
Gradual improvements in the weights you can lift comfortably are a clear, objective marker of progress — and one of the most rewarding to see.
Most beginners notice improvements in their energy levels, sleep and overall mood within a few weeks of training consistently.
Establishing a consistent training week is one of the most valuable outcomes of beginner coaching. Consistency is what creates long-term results.
Over time, you'll feel more and more capable of training on your own — knowing what to do, why you're doing it and how to keep progressing.

About your coach
Hi, I'm Vish — founder of On Form LDN and a Level 3 Personal Trainer based in North London.
A lot of the clients I work with are complete beginners. Some have never set foot in a gym. Others are returning to training after years away. What they share is a desire to do this properly — and a need for someone who'll meet them where they are rather than where they think they should be.
My coaching is calm, patient and evidence-based. We'll never rush. We'll never push you into something that doesn't feel right. We'll simply build, session by session, until training becomes a natural part of your week.
If your priority is losing weight as well as building confidence, you might also want to explore my Weight Loss Coaching programme. Once you're comfortable training independently, my Online Coaching programme is a natural next step — keeping the same coaching relationship while giving you the flexibility to train wherever you are.
I coach clients across King's Cross, Islington, Marylebone and the wider North and Central London area — in person and online.
Frequently asked questions
Starting something new often comes with a lot of questions — and that's completely normal. Below are some of the questions I'm asked most often by beginner clients. If there's anything else you'd like to know, please get in touch.
Yes. Beginner personal training is designed specifically for people who haven't trained before or haven't trained for a long time. You don't need any experience, fitness level or confidence to get started — that's what coaching is for. We'll begin with the basics, at a pace that feels right for you.
That's one of the most common reasons people get in touch. The gym environment can feel overwhelming when you're new — and that's completely normal. Coaching gives you structure, guidance and someone in your corner so you always know what you're doing and why.
No. Every session is built around your current fitness level and how you're feeling on the day. We'll always work within a sensible range so you finish feeling challenged but not broken — and so you can come back stronger next time.
Not at all. Most beginners come to me precisely because they don't feel fit, strong or confident yet. That's the starting point, not a barrier. We'll build fitness, strength and confidence together over time.
Most beginners start feeling noticeably more comfortable within the first few sessions, simply because they know what they're doing and why. Real confidence usually builds over the first few weeks as the movements, equipment and routines start to feel familiar.
We'll discuss any injuries, medical considerations or limitations during your consultation and adapt your programme accordingly. If anything falls outside my scope of practice as a Level 3 Personal Trainer, I'll always recommend speaking with a relevant clinician first.
I coach clients in person across King's Cross, Islington, Marylebone and the wider North and Central London area. Online coaching is also available if you prefer to train independently with structured guidance and support.
For most beginners, two to three sessions per week is a sensible starting point. We'll agree on a frequency that fits realistically into your week, rather than aiming for a schedule that's unsustainable from the start.
Just comfortable workout clothes and trainers to begin with. As you progress, we may introduce additional kit, but nothing is required upfront.
If we both feel we're a good fit, I'll put together a personalised beginner programme based on your goals, lifestyle and starting point. There's never any pressure to commit if you decide it's not the right time.
